Welcome to University of Derby Education Society page!
The Education Society is a new society for the 2023/24 academic year and we have some amazing plans in store to make this a memorable year with fantastic opportunities, so thank you for showing an interest!
- What can Education Society offer me?
The Education Society offers amazing opportunities to meet like-minded people, either studying similar courses to you across all stages, or working towards a career in education.
Furthermore, there will be chances to fundraise for various different charities and volunteer in local schools to help boost your CV. These will be organised by our amazing fundraising and volunteering secretaries, Issi and Lillie!
We host socials every other Wednesday, student night. These socials are based around different themes and events, chosen carefully by our social sec, Molly. Once you sign up, a calendar with events for the year will be available for you - but trust us, you don't want to miss out on any of them!
At the university, the education department is full of helpful people and we have a great relationship with all of them! We are in contact with them a lot and they are always a great way to support us in our studies, in our applications or in any trouble that we might face.
Hopefully, this year we can start a small sided netball and football team to compete in the local leagues at Willows. This is a great way to keep fit and also have fun with friends and coursemates, whilst maybe meeting new friends along the way.
- Do I have to be studying an education-based degree?
Asbolutely not! The Education Society is an all-inclusive society. We accept members no matter their degree. If you study an education-based degree, if you have an interest in a career in education or if you just want to join - you're more than welcome!
- How much will a membership cost me?
£8. We try to keep our memberships as low as possible! This £8 will allow you access to all of the Education Society events across the year. Some events throughout the year may incur a small extra fee however we aim to keep costs minimal for all members.
