BUCS will be hosting a webinar to discuss all things mental health in student sport.
Lockdown has been hard on us all, but university sports clubs have been fantastic in finding ways to engage members – keeping moral and promoting positive mental health – and we will be hearing from a few of these clubs.
Our fantastic line up includes Pippa Cave-Ayland (sports psychiatrist); Issy Walker (chair of the University of Nottingham’s ‘Welfare in Sport’ programme); Danny Fagan, (lacrosse player and Changing MENtality podcast producer), Ali McDermid (Heriot Watt University basketball player and mental health advocate) and Sophie Cohen-Jones (Training Manager at Student Minds).
During this one hour webinar, we will cover:
- Our panellists’ own experiences of dealing with mental health at university.
- The rise of conversation around men’s mental health.
- Potential mental health issues specifically facing athletes and how to spot these signs.
- How to keep your team’s mental health in check and morale high during lockdown.
