President

(Fully paid role) The figurehead of the Union, it's the President's job to oversee the entire Union. The President is the primary representative between the Union and the University to enact real change that positively affects student lives which will involve regular meetings with important University staff. The President also supports, leads and coordinates the 4 Vice Presidents, to ensure that the team work together to fulfill the organisation's Vision and Values.

Vice President (Activities)

(Fully paid role) The Vice-president (Activities) supports Union sports and society members and events and encourages students to get involved. You'll work alongside the University to increase membership, engagement and ensure students have the best possible experience!

Vice President (Education)

(Fully Paid Role) The Vice-President (Education) oversees the Union's student rep structures and ensures that the student voice is not only heard, but is acted on. You'll find out what students wants and help them to achieve it. You'll actively seek the views of students on academic issues and campaign and lobby the University on educational issues that affect Derby University students.

Vice President (Welfare)

(Fully paid role) The Vice-president (Welfare) supports student welfare by raising awareness of support services whilst working with the Uni on issues affecting student well-being. You'll represent the needs and issues of all students studying at the University! You (alongside a group of Welfare Part Time Officers) will also help represent and run events for students who identify as being part of a specific demographic i.e. LGBTQ+, International Students or Students with Disabilities.

The Part Time Officer (Disabilities) responsibilities include representing issues facing disabled students, encouraging the participation of disabled students in the Union and representing their views to the University and local community, supported by the Vice-President (Welfare). Union Societies Chair

The Union Societies Chair is responsible for supporting Union Societies as well as supporting the Officer Team and Union Societies Council to increase student engagement with societies and volunteer opportunities with the Union. The Union Societies Chair will also chair and facilitate the Union Societies Council, seek the views of societies to influence their work and run at least one inter-society event.

Buxton Events Officer

The Buxton Events Officer will actively seek the views of Buxton students to shape the work they do, ensure that an events programme is in place, assist the Union in creating ideas and organising events/trips for Buxton HE students and promote/advertise events with the Union. They will also support the Union Officers in ensuring that fundraising events take place at Buxton and support with any Buxton sports events.

The Buxton Activities Officer will work with Part Time Officers to ensure activities across the Union are inclusive and support the Vice-President (Activities) in raising awareness of issues affecting students participating in activities at the Buxton Campus. The Buxton Activities Officer will also attend and contribute to the Buxton Campus Council meetings and encourage the participation in sports, societies and activities.

National Student Rights Campaigner (NUS Delegate)

You would attend the NUS Conference in Glasgow from 8th - 11th April 2019. Your transport and accommodation and some food will be paid for. The conference is 3 days, where you will vote on national policy which will affect students in Further & Higher Education across the whole of the UK. You will also vote for your national officers. It's a fantastic opportunity to represent the student body at the University of Derby and get involved in shaping the future of education on a national scale.
