My Name is Nayan Khetani, currently a year two student studying Joint Honours in Business Management and Analytics. I would like to be elected for the position of Part-time Joint Honours representative. I understand we all have different skills, knowledge, and stories from before the commencement of our studies. But we are all here with the same goal of achieving our degrees and making a change.
Briefly, as your student rep, I am here to help, advise and assist you with any difficulties throughout your studies. Although joint honours are ending in the coming years, I will continue the great work of previous representatives and university staff. Ensuring that the joint honours students have the same university experience and opportunities as single honours students. Currently, my study programme does not provide dissertation as a module option in the third year, I plan to investigate this for all other programmes that do not offer dissertations as an option, and hopefully get this changed to give us that choice of an independent study module.
Throughout my three years of study at Derby, I have studied at Kedleston Road, Britannia Mill and Markeaton Street campuses. I am aware that issues and concerns may arise at one campus and not the others. I like to think of these campuses; as well as Friar Gate, as one campus. Therefore, I want to assure you that regardless of where you are studying from or the issues you may have. There are support channels available and, I will do my utmost to give all matters the same attention regardless of campus and ensure the issue at hand goes through the relevant channels and is resolved swiftly.
Continuing our previous representative's progress on bringing attention to our Programme / Module leaders have Joint honours students. Vital information we require in a mandatory module we do not cover is an issue. Therefore hopefully get access to Learning materials for these modules to self-learn if identified and requested. Within our previous/current semesters that require us to progress. Furthermore, work with other PTOs to implement early module handbooks for our pre-planning insight on modules.
As a mature student, with current nationwide restrictions, and further implications going far beyond when the lockdown has eased. Living alone or out of the UK. I would like you to know that help and assistance are here. Therefore, I would assist with any situation by directing you to the relevant department/person or collaborate with the union if needed. Not just on study timeframes, finance, or welfare issues but any issue that will affect your study.
I aim to:
- help, advise and assist you with any difficulties throughout your studies
- continue the great work of previous representatives and university staff
- Direct you to the relevant department/person or collaborate with the union if needed.
