Wellbeing Social with Music Theatre

Wed 19 November 2025 18:00-21:00, BM118 Britannia Mill

An event organised by: Occupational Therapy

A space to unwind in arts and craft and watch a streamed musical from Disney+. Snacks available and will be fun.

Come join us at Britannia Mill on the 19th of November with the Music Theatre Society between 6pm and 9pm for a fun and relaxing wellbeing social with a twist. The theme is everything and anything about musicals. There will be arts and craft activities to complete whilst we stream the Musical "Newsies" on Disney+. There will be snacks available as well.

Newsies is set in 1899, at the dawning of the 20th Century in New York, USA. Based on a true story about the newspaper boys strike that took place that year to fight against being exploited and taken advantage off against the people at the top. Jack Kelly, the main character of the musical has a dream to live a better life without being treated the ways that the newspaper boys do and leads a group of his fellow newspaper boys to victory.

The musical highlights important lessons on independence, injustice and inspiring people to stand up for their rights

We hope you'll be there with us for a fun and creative evening celebrating all things musicals and theatre.

Don't forget that the Music Theatre Society have their musicals showcase in Kirtley Hall, Kedleston Road Campus, University of Derby 2pm and 7pm on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th of November. Information for this can be found on the events page of the union of students website.

We can't wait to see you at Britannia Mill.
