The winners of the awards will be decided by a committee within the Students' Union, based on the evidence received in nominations, and will be announced at the Learning and Teaching Conference on Monday 3rd July at the Buxton Campus, University of Derby.
Inspirational Teaching Award (1 award) based on open nominations from students.
The inspirational teaching award will be awarded to staff who have offered exceptional standards of teaching to the students of this university, inspiring them on a daily basis.
This winner of this award will:

Engage the students within their subject area

Excite and enthuse students by the methods used in lectures

Show passion and expert knowledge of their subject area

Inspire students to excel in their academic studies

Lecturer of the Year (1 Award)
The Lecturer of the Year award will be awarded to staff who have showcased exceptional teaching, facilitated student development and enhanced the students learning experience.
The winners of these awards will:

Provide detailed feedback in a timely manner that facilitates student development

Be engaging and innovative – showing passion and enthusiasm in their teaching and use a range of teaching methods to engage students

Maintain regular and clear communication with students, and makes themselves available for students to contact

Be knowledgeable about, and engaged with their subject – use their knowledge, experiences and passion for the subject to enhance the student learning experience

The Outstanding Support Staff of the Year award will be awarded to non-teaching staff who have gone above and beyond in their role to support students in their experience at University.

The Amazing Personal Tutor of the Year award will be awarded to a Personal Tutor who has supported students with a range of issues and made a significant impact on a student’s experience at University.
