We are the University of Derby's Disabled and Neurodivergent Students Community! We're here to bring disabled and neurodivergent students together, create a welcoming and inclusive space, and make sure students feel heard, represented and supported throughout their university experience.

 

Online students are just as welcome as campus-based students! We want everyone to have the opportunity to get involved, regardless of how or where they study. That's why we're working towards offering hybrid events, giving students the option to participate either in person or online. We want to make our community as accessible as possible, so everyone can take part in a way that works for them.

Whether you're disabled, neurodivergent, chronically ill, have a mental health condition, or identify with any of these experiences, you're welcome here. You don't need a formal diagnosis to be part of our community.

What do we do?

We're building a community where you can connect with people who understand, share experiences, find support and get involved in university life in a way that works for you.

We're working towards:

• Social events: Opportunities to meet other students, make friends and have fun in a relaxed environment.

• Online activities: Including virtual social nights, games, movie nights and other activities.

• Study support: Opportunities for body doubling, shared study sessions and connecting with other students.

• A welcoming online community: Our Discord server is being refreshed to make it easier to connect, share interests and keep up to date.

• Helpful resources: Signposting to university support, disability services, mental health support, LGBTQIA+ organisations and financial assistance.

• Better representation: Creating opportunities for disabled and neurodivergent students to share their experiences, ideas and feedback.

Join us!

Membership is completely free and open to University of Derby students.

You don't have to attend every event, take on a committee role or be particularly outgoing. You can get involved as much or as little as you'd like.
