Dodgeball Dodge, duck, dip, dive & dodge! Welcome to the University of Derby Dodgeball Club the Derby Seahawks! We have a friendly inclusive atmosphere, competitive men's, women's, and mixed teams, and a range of fun socials! What is Dodgeball? Dodgeball is one of the fastest-growing sports, with over 100 clubs operating across the UK. The games are fast-paced and high intensity, but accessible to all, with players across the country varying in age and skill level. Doesn't matter if you're a beginner, we welcome all abilities, whether you have never thrown a ball in your life or had years of experience! The aim of the game is to eliminate your opponents by either hitting them with a thrown dodgeball or catching one of their throws, whilst dodging any incoming attacks yourself. It is a sport that truly emphasises teamwork, fast-thinking, and adaptation. We pride ourselves on not only our sporting excellence but most importantly our inclusivity. We welcome all members, it is completely up to you whether you would like to play competitively against other Universities. Or come to train with us and find/create new friendships and enjoy the social side of our club. What we offer: We currently have a competitive team entered into the BUCS leagues. We also offer the opportunity to play/ compete in open tournaments across the country. As well as being competitive, we are a social club and hold regular socials for those who drink and those who don't. We compete against the University of Hertfordshire in 'Varsity' every year. We smashed it last year, so why can't we do it again? We also have awards evenings at the end of each year to celebrate achievments, have a laugh and look back at what happened over the year. Our annual standard membership fee before christmas is £30, but after that it drops to just £20! Membership includes: The opportunity to compete in BUCS league, opens, and internal tournaments throughout the year. We supply kits for the games. Training facilities. Take part in our socials. To access the sessions, you will need the Union Pass (£20) as well as the Club Membership (£30). The Union Sports Pass is a one-time annual fee of £20 that gives you access to participate within sports at your Union. As a Union Sports member, you receive the following benefits: Access to join all Sports Clubs and access training sessions You are eligible to compete in BUCS competition Able to purchase tickets to the Sports Awards Specific Personal Accident Insurance for student sport through Endsleigh, if you are injured as part any club activities - https://www.derbyunion.co.uk/getinvolved/memberresources/ Access to coaching and officiating bursaries through club application to the Union. The Union Sports Pass also helps keep our clubs affordable by helping the Union fund training and competition opportunities. Achievements: In 2022/23 the men's and women's team were crowned the BUCS CHAMPIONS, and our men's team came runner-up in the National University Champs. As well as this the club was awarded BUCS points of the year by the union. A large amount of our previous players have moved on to play for teams around the country and have even been a part of the England Team! In 2024/25 the Men's 1st team came first place in tier 1A.
