Hockey Welcome to the University of Derby's Hockey Club's page, this club consists of both a Men's and a Women's team, along with a Mixed team. As a society, we strive to always make people feel a part of our team, both on and off the pitch, ensuring a close team environment where we've become one big hockey family. Our Community is growing and this is your chance to become involved in it, even if you don't know if hockey is the sport for you, the people involved will definitely be the poeple for you TRAINING: Monday 19:00 - 20:30 at Saint Benedict's Catholic Voluntary Academy, Duffield Rd, Darley Abbey, DE22 1JD Meet at St Bens at 18:45 Led by high quality, qualified coaches that have a great relationship with our players And then join us at The Jonty Farmer after for some food and a pint MATCHES: We compete in BUCS most Wednesdays - fixtures will begin in October of 2026 The Men's team compete in Midlands Tier 3 and the Women's team compete in Midlands Tier 4, with both teams having their best league finishes in recent years and now looking for promotion On most Sundays we compete in a Mixed League, this is an opportunity to play more socially with less pressure than a BUCS game, try new positions and play against some different universities. MEMBERSHIPS: Our annual membership price is £70. This fee allows access for you to: Participate in BUCS competition Eligible to play in Mixed League fixtures Access weekly training sessions led by qualified coaches Participate in weekly social events Be in the BEST society in Derby To access the sessions, you will need both the Union Pass (£20) and a Hockey Club Membership (£70). The Union Sports Pass is a one-time annual fee of £20 that gives you access to participate within sports at your Union. As a Union Sports member, you receive the following benefits: Access to join our Sports Clubs and access training sessions You are eligible to compete in BUCS competition You are eligible to compete in MIXED LEAGUE competitions Able to purchase tickets to the Sports Awards Specific Personal Accident Insurance for student sport through Endsleigh, if you are injured as part any club activities - https://www.derbyunion.co.uk/getinvolved/memberresources/ Access to coaching and officiating bursaries through club application to the Union. The Union Sports Pass also helps keep our clubs affordable by helping the Union fund training and competition opportunities. RECENT CLUB ACHIEVEMENTS/HIGHLIGHTS: - Both teams securing their highest league finishes in recent years - Men's team establishing themselves as a tough contender in Tier 3 developing some good games against some strong universities. - Women's team be an extremely competitive team in Tier 4, winning over half their games and scoring 36 goals in 10 games - Mixed team winning the tournament plate for the first time - The club achieving Gold Standard, with only 3 other clubs and awarded Most Improved Club of the Year If you have any questions, we'd love to hear from you so don't hesitate to contact us...
