Climbing Who are we? The Climbing Club is a casual and competitive club for anyone to join, creating a relaxed social environment for trying and learning something new as well as making friendships that last longer than your university career. Our Club is perfect for novice Boulderers and Top-Rope climbers or seasoned Lead Climbers! Where to Find Us We meet on Mondays and Thursdays 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Climbing Wall in the Sports Centre at the Kedleston Road Campus. The wall has 7 lines of roped climbing with grades varying from 3+ to 7a so there is plenty of climbing for all skill levels. We also have a bouldering wall with an overhanging buttress, creating a wide variety of routes, challenges and some interesting moves! We are also home to a hard-to-find, lattice board for stamina training and a fingerboard with varying-sized ledges for training purposes! What We Provide Access to free weekly sessions at the wall Free equipment hire Paid entry into competitions Indoor and outdoor trips Social events Free instruction and climbing experience A great sense community Climbing Competitions Each year compete in MUCCs (Midlands University Climbing Competition) and BUCS (British Univerities and Colleges Sport). We are able to pay for six members to compete for the University. Climbing comps are a great way to strengthen your climbing and it's always a blast participating. Can still come along and enter as an individual if you want all the fun and less of the pressure. Message one of our committee members if you are interested in joining. If you make the team you gain the following benefits; Free entry to competitions Club refunded travel costs Membership Costs Our standard membership fee is £50. You will also need the Union Pass £20 which is required to be able to join sports clubs. This is a one-time payment which gains membership for the year. If you are joining after the new year our new year price is £25.
