Musical Theatre Who Are We? Welcome to the UoD Musical Theatre Society! Having won 'Society of the Year' for 2023/24 and 2024/25, you're in extremely capable hands for all things musical theatre. Whether you enjoy being on stage, behind the scenes, or even just getting together with people to watch and/or sing along to musicals, this society has something for everyone! Musical theatre is an excellent opportunity to build confidence as well as enhance your acting, singing, dancing, tech, time management, and public speaking abilities. We have a very welcoming community that always has each other's backs, which is a lovely setting to join into at any point in time. It doesn't matter if you've been performing/doing tech for years or if this is your first exposure to it all; we welcome all abilities and strive to make musical theatre as inclusive and accessible as possible. Session Details And How To Join Sessions take place every Tuesday and Thursday (and sometimes Mondays) from 6-9pm at Britannia Mill campus (BM119 for cast, BM120 for tech) In order to join it's only a £15 one-off payment. What We Do Winter Showcase (December) - Audition with a song from any musical you choose! This can be a solo, duet, or group number and is a great way to make friends at the start of the year. There are also 3 full on cast numbers which all members are able to join in on. Spring Musical (April) - Showcase more of your acting skills with the spring musical, as voted on by members in October. Major and minor roles are up for grabs, as well as ensemble and creative team positions (choreographer, musical director, director, and character coach). Tech gets to truly shine through here and help create amazing sets, lighting, and sound for an all-round outstanding performance! Socials - We aim to have at least 2 socials a month, with a mix of drinking and sober events. Look forward to themed nights out, karaoke, pub crawls, theatre outings, game nights, and more! Charity Events - Being Union recognised as 'Charitable Champions' for 2023/24, we love supporting our chosen charity, Me&Dee (CN: 1146147), whenever we can. Our Winter Showcase, annual sponsored walk, and varying fundraising events all help out a great cause. Want More Info?
