Union Communities

Communities are a big part of university life here at Derby. Run by students and guided by their memberships our Communities offer regular, inclusive, opportunities to get involved and be part of the vibrant Derby community.

From meeting like-minded people to trying something completely new, Communities are the perfect way to enhance your student experience and unwind from the responsibilities of studying.

Our Communities are supported by the Communities Council, a group of democratically elected Community members who help promote the benefits of being a part of it all; the Sports Council, who focus on the sporting communities; and our part-time paid Student Organisers, who are students employed to support Communities and bridge the gap with our full-time Communities Team at the Union.

Your Community Organisers

We have three part-time, paid, roles that support our Communities. Each has a specific remit to focus their efforts but all are a great option if you need help with promoting or running your Community. If you're interested in the role you can also apply for the roles when we recruit each year.
