At Derby Silk Mill, the Museum of Making will be opening on 21 May 2021. Celebrating the area’s rich history of innovation, the Museum of Making in the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site will be a contemporary space telling Derby’s 300-year history of making to inspire new creativity. Designed and made by the people and industries of Derby with exhibits, workshops, activities and events, there will be something for everyone including a new café, shop and venue hire spaces. Entry to the new Museum of Making is free but, due to Covid restrictions, visitors will need to book a timeslot in advance.
Museum opening times
10.00-17.00 Bank Holiday Monday (31 May), Tuesday, Wednesday & Saturday (please note tickets purchased for the 15.30 & 16.00 timeslots will have limited time to view the whole museum)
10.00-19.00 Thursday & Friday (please note tickets purchased for the 17.30 & 18.00 timeslots will have limited time to view the whole museum)
10.00-16.00 Sunday (please note tickets purchased for the 14.30 & 15.00 timeslots will have limited time to view the whole museum)
Some timeslots may not be available on certain dates due to group bookings.
