Very soon we will be welcoming our international students back to the University of Derby. The pandemic has been tough for all of our students, but for international students things have been quite complicated, so it’s important to us that we get them back into university life in style.
How do we plan to do that? A Very British Picnic, of course!
If you’re an international student returning to studies or coming to us at Derby for the first time, we’d like to invite you to a very special event. A traditional British picnic in our Fresher’s village, on Thursday 30th September from 12-3pm!
We’ll introduce you to life in the UK in the best way we know how, sausage rolls (vegetarian and vegan alternatives will be available) and fruity drinks! Students will be able to talk to the Union about opportunities to get involved, as well as meet the committee of our international society, Derby Worldwide, and try out some activities and games with some of our student groups.
We’ve also asked the University to bring some faces you might need during your stay in Derby. If you’ve got questions about visas, healthcare or housing, there’ll be people to chat to put any moving in worries at rest.
Moving to a new country can be a bit of a culture change, but the Union is excited to meet you and make sure this part of your journey is the best ever!
Derby Worldwide will be hosting their International Student welcome party at the Friary, also on the 30th September from 7-9pm. Come along and join our vibrant community of international students!
The Very British Picnic is kindly supported by Visit Derby.
