International Women's Day Derby Festival (Community event)

Our volunteer-powered preparations are in full swing for the International Women's Day Derby Festival 8-9th March and we hope you can join the celebrations!

Our annual open mic night of powerful songs + poetry will take place from 7.30pm Friday 8th March at Deda Cafe Bar, Chapel Street, Derby and we have slots available if you would like to take part - Rebecca 'Bex' Muir at BexStar Entertainment Productions is coordinating the open mic timeslots and you can e-mail her at bexstar.entertainment@gmail.com to be part of it, or some slots will be available on the night.

On Saturday 9th March our festival will be buzzing with a Women's Rights March from The Spot at 11am with our giant protest puppet HERoes and placards for women worldwide. From 11.00am - 4.00pm (11.00am-12.00pm is a neuro-divergent-friendly Quiet Hour) our huge Market Place Marquee will feature changemakers & trailblazers, 30+ stalls, causes & campaigns, Derby Speaks Up, arts & crafts, family fun, multicultural performances, women's sports team demos, women's enterprises, public services, Rebel Women's Choir, a fire engine crewed by women who are local firefighters and more!
