The Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (AUGB) invites you to join a solemn walk of remembrance to honour the thousands of Ukrainian children whose lives and futures have been taken by the ongoing war and commemorate the 4th year of the war in Ukraine. We gather not just to mourn, but to ensure that the world does not look away from the youngest victims of this tragedy.
The Route of Remembrance
We will gather this Saturday, 28th February, for a three-stage event:
-
3:30pm: We meet at the Sir Peter Hilton Memorial Garden.
-
3:45-4pm: A peaceful procession will move through Market Place, standing in solidarity with the families of Ukraine.
-
4-5pm: The march will conclude at St. Mary’s Church for a dedicated memorial program.
A Symbolic Farewell
During the service at St. Mary’s, there will be a short, poignant program sharing the stories of children killed in the war, followed by a communal prayer. In a visual act of remembrance, children in attendance will participate in laying teddy bears at the memorial, which is a powerful symbol of the innocence lost and the childhoods that should have been.
How You Can Join Us
This event is open to everyone, whether you are part of our community or not, who wishes to show their support.
We also encourage attendees to wear blue and yellow or any items that represent Ukraine to create a visible wave of solidarity, although this is totally optional and is not mandatory.
