A path through the trees

In Derbyshire there are lots of outdoor activities that you can participate in from peak district walks, theme parks, nature walks, and little town outings. One of my personal favourite places to visit is Chatsworth House along with all of the events that they hold and the gardens and walks that they provide for each and every individual.

Here are a list of the different outdoor places and activities that you can attend for special events, days out, walks, or even just on a nice sunny day having a picnic with your friends or family all whilst still abiding by the current covid regulations (As of April/May 2021).

All of these activities will help with your mental health by taking in outdoor surroundings and nature with your friends or family, again in line with current government guidelines.

Chatsworth House:

  • Activities for all of the family
  • House opening on the 18th May 2021
  • Farm yard and Playground for the Children
  • Shop, Dine and Stay

To find out more information on dates of events at Chatsworth grounds, see the website.

Peak District Walks:

People who like to go for walks might be interested in going for walks in the Peak District, there are many different walks to take part in, these can be found on the website along with the routes that they involve, the mileage that the specific walks include, and directions to get there.

Theme Parks and Matlock Bath:

Gullivers Kingdom - Located in Matlock Bath

This theme park is specifically for children aged 2 to 13 years but all ages will enjoy a great day out!!

Whilst your in Matlock bath why not visit the chip shop, the arcade, and grab an Ice-Cream or even visit the Heights of Abraham on a cable car (If you enjoy heights), with lots of more activities to do once you are up there.

Markeaton Park:

Markeaton Park is an outdoor area that is open to the public for free, they provide many activities such as walks, water sports, pitch and putt, foot golf, disc golf, tennis courts, and cricket as well as other activities like picnics, football, or other outdoor activities. Markeaton park is a short walk away from our Kedleston Road campus and also has a car park availible as well as a free uni bus from campus to Markeaton park. All of these activities can be found online.

This article has hopefully given you all some ideas on what you can do to make the most of the sunshine and time with friends and family which is always good when you are dealing with bad mental health days, we all expereince these from time to time, especially in the current circumstances relating to covid-19. There are many great days out that you can have with these few places to visit within the local area of Derby.
