The Union of Students will be holding an All Student Meeting on Wednesday 15th May from 2.00pm - 3:30pm and all students are invited to hear about and question the Union’s performance in the last academic year from its Trustee Board, plus propose new policies and vote on changes to the Union's Standing Orders.

What kind of policy changes have happened through ASM previously?
· Introduced Student-Led Services as a student group alongside Societies and Sports Clubs - to ensure student groups such as RAG, Phantom Live and Enactus get the support they need.
· Changed Post-Graduate Research Representation structure to ensure appropriate representation of PGR students, separate to undergraduate students.
· Added Further Education Officer to representation structures to ensure the voices of these cohorts are heard.
How do I get involved?
As a student, you can submit your own proposals which will be voted on at the ASM. We encourage you to chat to our Student Voice & Insight Manager, Stephanie, or the Union President or one of the Vice Presidents before submitting and together we will be able to read through your proposal to ensure it cannot be misconstrued or misinterpreted, as the proposal cannot be amended after it has been voted on the ASM.
All students are invited to come along and get involved in the debates around each proposal and vote. If you cannot attend the event in person, it is also accessible via Teams so you can join the ASM virtually. There will also be the option to vote by proxy, details of which will be confirmed closer to the event.
Why should I vote in the ASM?
At our core we're a democratic organisation, we elect students to determine what we do and how we go about doing it. To make this work fairly and effectively we have our governance structures – Elections, Officers, Summit, the Constitution, and the Standing Orders. Alongside the Trustee Board these all work together to make sure we're doing the best we can for our members.
Students are involved in every aspect of our governance, either as participants or as change-makers. This way we ensure that what our membership wants is what we are doing (and how we are doing it).
