We're recruiting a student volunteer to take over the Union's Sports Council and Societies Council social media channels.

Purpose of the role

To focus on raising the profile of Sports and Societies at the University, using the Union social media platforms to reach and engage students, staff and key stakeholders in the community.

Main duties

  • Enhance the internal and external profile of sport and societies at the University of Derby through regular posting of achievements, events and general interest stories.
  • Use the appropriate mechanisms to keep student audience informed of all relevant information. – including BUCS fixtures, training updates and student profiles
  • Develop audience with interest in sport, physical activity, societies, student life and associated success stories
  • Schedule content for the year that will engage students and highlight key sports initiatives/dates e.g. BUCS Nationals, Mental Health Awareness etc.
  • Create a minimum of 2 posts per week, including spotlighting societies, BUCS fixtures and Team of the Week content then any further posts as advised by the Sports or Societies Councils
  • Establish strong relationships and networks with our student clubs, talented athletes and the University community.
  • Create and collect photo and video content to support brand awareness, and engagement with the Union
  • Assist with ensuring that all work produced is quality assured and GDPR compliant – implementing systems to capture consent and associated data.
  • Measure the reach and depth of social media engagement to evaluate all activity.
  • To attend council sessions when requested by the Chair and/or Vice President.
