The Scrutiny Panel is a meeting held by the Union of Students four times a year where your elected full time Executive Officers give updates on their progress within their roles and towards their personal statement aims to a panel made up of students with elected roles within the Union.

The Scrutiny Panel is a meeting held by the Union of Students four times a year where your elected full time Executive Officers give updates on their progress within their roles and towards their personal statement aims to a panel made up of students with elected roles within the Union. Student Officer can also be called to present at these meetings and students can be co-opted into vacant Student Officer positions. This helps to ensure that all the Officers can be held to account for things they promised within their personal statements.

The second Scrutiny Panel of this academic year was held on Tuesday 13th February at the Kedleston Road campus. During this meeting the Executive Officers gave a report on their progress, 2 Student Officers had been called to report on their progress but no report was received, and the panellists confirmed the official question and voting period for the upcoming referendum on the Union of Students continued affiliation to the Nation Union of Students - NUS UK.

Outcomes

  • Dominic White – President – Passed
  • Holly Lloyd – Vice President (Education) – Passed
  • Jack McGuinness – Vice President (Welfare) – Passed
  • Gabriela Gretkowska – Vice President (Activities) – Passed

The 2 Student Officers received a majority vote to remove them from their roles. These are:

  • Ethnic Minorities Officer
  • Postgraduate Taught Officer

The official question for the referendum was set as: "Should Derby Union of Students remain a member of the National Union of Students (NUS) UK?"

The voting period will be the same as the main Union elections voting period and will run from 10am on Wednesday 6th March – 10.00am on Wednesday 13th March. The results of the referendum will be published on the Union website on the 13th March.
