Since launching in 2015, the ground breaking This Girl Can campaign has positively tackled the gender activity gap, celebrating active women regardless of age, background or ability and helping change the way women think and feel about exercise.

Returning for its third year, the This Derby Girl Can event is taking place on Wednesday13th March at the Sports Centre. It’s something the University and Union are super keen to showcase, and support more females (and individuals identifying as female) to feel inspired, feel comfortable, have fun and help celebrate active women across the university.

Lucy, Kate and Sophie from the Sport & Activity team, supported by US club volunteers and sports centre staff, will be running a ‘girls afternoon’ of sports activity tasters and fun challenges and are inviting UoD females to come along and ‘do their thing’ no matter what their experience.

We want female students and staff to have some fun, socialise and have the opportunity to connect with other like-minded women in a safe and comfortable environment. All are welcome – whether you want to ‘get active’ or just share in the fun. We’re really excited about this year’s event, and looking forward to seeing everyone there.
