There were fewer fixtures than usual in this week of BUCS, however a good number of teams still played and here is how they got on…

In one of the most entertaining encounters of the week, the Men’s Basketball 1sts emerged victorious from their game against Oxford at Kedleston Road, winning 84-72.

The Football teams—who competed in the Midlands Conference Cup rather than the league this time around—fared well as the Men’s 2nds and 3rds both progressed to the subsequent round, while the 4ths were sadly knocked out.

Meanwhile, the Men’s Futsal 1sts secured yet another narrow, but deserved win over Nottingham 1sts—this time winning 2-1—making it two victories out of two for them in the league.

However, from there onwards it was all downhill for our UoD sports teams, as the only other team to avoid defeat on the day was the Men’s Hockey 1sts who drew 3-3 with Worcester.

The Women’s Badminton 1sts were unable to maintain their unbeaten start to the season as they lost narrowly to Loughborough 1sts.

The Men’s Badminton team also faced their Loughborough counterparts, but lost by a more significant margin, as they were beaten 8-0.

Both Women’s Volleyball teams suffered 3-0 defeats at home as they failed to emulate the first matchday’s form.

The last of the BUCS games that took place at home was the Derby Netball 1sts vs Nottingham 4ths, but UoD were unfortunately defeated 56-29.

Finally, the Table Tennis team were beaten 12-5 by Leicester’s 1sts, while the Lacrosse fixture in East Anglia resulted in a loss due to a walk over.

We will be back next week for more BUCS action and hoping for more positive results across the board.
