Don’t forget to apply for an extension on your deadline if you’re struggling!

If you’re finding it difficult to meet an upcoming assessment deadline, you might be able to request an extension through the Request for Additional Consideration (RAC) procedures.

You can apply for an RAC online through UDo, explaining what’s happened and how it’s affected your ability to submit. Supporting evidence may be needed depending on the level of request. You can find guidance and examples on our webpage.

It’s essential that you:

  • Apply before your deadline - if you fail to submit or fail the assessment and later say it was due to extenuating circumstances; you’ll need to show that you applied for an RAC before submission.
  • Submit your work by the deadline if you haven’t had an RAC decision yet - unless your extension is officially approved, your original deadline still applies.
  • Reach out for advice - if you’re unsure which option is right for you, contact us here in the Union Advice Service and we can support.
