We don't want to encourage using AI in your work, but we can appreciate that it can have it's uses. Before you use AI, check your assessment rules.

Think twice if you're asking AI to...

  • Write your assignment
  • Create your arguments or analysis
  • Rewrite your work for you
  • Generate references or evidence
  • Create data, quotes or examples
  • Produce artwork when the assessment requires your own work

 AI may be useful for...

  • Understanding a difficult topic
  • Checking spelling and grammar
  • Planning your revision
  • Getting feedback on your own ideas
  • Checking your referencing style
  • Creating practice questions

Don't assume AI is correct!

AI can produce:

  • Fake references
  • False statistics
  • Made-up quotations
  • Incorrect information
  • Sources that don't actually say what AI claims they do

Always check important information against the original source.

Ask yourself: “Would I be allowed to ask a friend to do this for me?” If you wouldn't be allowed to ask a friend to do it, don't ask AI to do it either.

Remember: AI isn't automatically misconduct. Misusing it can be.

Check your assessment guidance or speak to your module leader if you're unsure.
