This year Student Living and UDSU are joining forces in a charity initiative to stop waste going to landfill and also raise money for British Heart Foundation.

Pack for Good is a campaign to get students to donate their unwanted items to the British Heart Foundation and runs from the 11th of April to the 2nd of July. Donation points are located at various points around the University and at most halls of residence. Residents of the local area and students are encouraged to use these points to drop off unwanted goods and help items find a new home.

Amanda Purkiss at BHF said:

Last year Derby University’s contribution was amazing. We received 1041 bags of donation with an estimated stock value of £14,500. We’re delighted to be working with Derby again this year and hopefully now the SU are on board the results will be even more impressive.

Students at Halls of residence can donate by filling the donation bags with unwanted items that have been put in their kitchens and then put them in the collection point at your hall or at Uni. Private residents can bring their items along to any of the donation bins below. We can then pass them on to the BHF for their shops.

  • Nunnery Court
  • St Christopher’s Court
  • Princess Alice Court
  • Sir Peter Hilton Court
  • Peak Court
  • Lonsdale Hall
  • Laverstoke Court
  • Flamsteed Court
  • High Peak Halls
  • Union Quarter – Kedleston Road Campus
  • Markeaton Street Campus
  • Britannia Mill Campus
  • Buxton Dome

So, as the time for moving out draws near and if you having a sort out please remember that your unwanted items could be valuable stock for a BHF shop and need to avoid landfill.
