Derby Season of Light

Across various locations, the Derby Season of Light is a celebration of our city’s diversity, embracing a variety of cultural events, including Diwali, Hanukkah, Christmas, and Chinese New Year. Throughout the rest of the year, there will be a variety of activities and events based on the themes of light, peace and friendship. On the 29th November, the flagship Derby Lantern parade will be taking place in the city centre, and for information on the other events, you can check the Surtal Arts Website.

Open Mic Night

On the last Thursday of every month, Derby Market Hall hosts a free open mic night for anyone to either attend or perform in. Perfect for musicians, comedians, poets, and more, this event is a great way to get yourself out there and experience the talent of our diverse community. A full list of Open Mic dates and times is available on the Market Hall website, and performance slots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis!

Deer at Calke

On the 6th of November at 10 am, Calke Abbey is hosting an autumnal deer walk event on their grounds. Led by one of the Abbey’s Park Guides, this event gives you the opportunity to learn about the different herds of deer in the park, as well as their history and habits. For more information on the details of the day, you can check the Calke Abbey website.

Family Outdoor Cinema

For lovers of films and Halloween, Electric Daisy is hosting a screening of Hocus Pocus under a canopy on the 29th of October. The event offers pizza, popcorn, and a fully licensed bar, so all you need to bring is a couple of camping chairs and a blanket or two! Perfect for all the family, tickets are available here — but there aren’t many left, so buy quickly!

Rosie Jones at Derby Theatre

As seen on TV (Taskmaster, 8 Out of 10 Cats and more), comedian Rosie Jones is coming to Derby on Thursday, the 6th of November. Performing her brand-new comedy set titled ‘I Can’t Tell What She’s Saying’, Rosie is guaranteed to give you over an hour and a half of laughs. Tickets are available through the Derby Theatre website, and while you’re there, be sure to check out the other shows taking to the stage this year!
