Your student officer group was elected in March to represent you for the academic year 2021/2022. Your officers are now trained and are in position to support and help improve your student experience here at the University of Derby.
A little bit about Student Officers and how they represent you whilst you are studying here at the University of Derby.
We have a representation structure in place for you to be able to provide any feedback about your course or University experience. We want to ensure that you feel able and confident in getting your voice heard, as students are at the heart of everything we do here at the Union of Students.
We categorise our Student Officers into the following:
- Education Officers
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officers
You can find out all their contact details here - https://www.derbyunion.co.uk/change/officers/
These officers are here to represent you at a school level so they will be attending meetings with your college team to discuss any academic related feedback or issues that you have whilst at the University that has been passed through your student rep.
If you are a student rep, you will have direct contact with your relevant education officer via the Microsoft Teams site or you can contact them via the email addresses on the website above if you want to share any feedback.
If your course doesn’t have an elected student representative but if gathering feedback, being passionate about making change, creating positive impact and improving students university experience is something you are interested in, think about putting yourself forward during induction week.
There will be plenty of opportunities for you to provide your feedback and get your voice heard through:
- College student forums
- Drop in sessions
And many more!
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officers
As a Union, we stand to represent the interests of all students. We want to ensure that every single student at the University of Derby whether you are an international student, struggling with your mental health or commuting from outside the city centre, we are here to support you and elevate any feedback you may have that will help shape and improve your university experience.
You can join the Union Facebook groups below if you are interested in finding likeminded students or you have a passion for an area.
