Book Club was a brand new society at University of Derby in 2018. We have even more exciting books, meetings and events planned for 2020/21 and are always open to suggestions!
We choose a new book theme each month and host a minimum of monthly meetings to talk all about it. We always love recommendations from our members to ensure everyone can get something out of the society. Each monthly theme will be chosen by a group vote and will include various genres; contemporary fiction, romance, poetry, YA fiction, etc.
As well as our regular meetups; we're planning to host more events this year, both online and in person. From chats to those who work in Publishing to learning how to create a Bookstagram to Halloween and World Book Day Dress up all the way through to Charity Book Sales. We plan to host events for all occassions.
We are looking to encourage more people to read, expand reading tastes (ours included), diversify reading and create a community where we can talk about all the books we've read recently whether we loved or hated them.
Whether you read every day and are interested in finding a new author or genre to love, or maybe read once a year on holiday and need an excuse to read more, this club will have something for you!
If you have any questions, please e-mail us or find us on Facebook at Derby US Book Club or Instagram @uodbookclub.
