Derby Labour Students is a democratic socialist society. It believes that by the strength of our common endeavour we achieve more than we achieve alone. We wish to create for each of us the means to realise our true potential and for all of us a community in which power, wealth and opportunity are in the hands of the many not the few; where the rights we enjoy reflect the duties we owe and where we live together freely, in a spirit of solidarity, tolerance and respect, not in spite of our differences but because of them.

We will be hosting a pints and politics event on the 27th of September at Canero Lounge with free food included. Make sure you come along to hear more about how you can get involved!

Aims

1. To provide a platform to allow students to socialise and discuss the Labour Party on campus. 2. To host and encourage campaigns and events that further democratic socialism and the Labour Party’s success. 3. To engage with and support initiatives by the Union salient to the Labour movement. 4. To encourage involvement of all genders, sexual orientations, ethnic minorities, disabled and mature students in both the Society and the Labour Party.
