The American Football club is regarded as one of the University’s top sports clubs. The club has a team of dedicated coaches who lead training sessions twice a week. 2012 saw the introduction of American Football into the BUCS leagues, and huge success for the Derby Braves who won their divisional league and reached the national championship semi-finals and even getting as far as the National Championship in the Premier League of American Football Bucs!
The Braves currently compete in the BUCS Division Two Midlands. Previously Divison One North in which they were undefeated in 2019/20. They have played against some of the best institutions in the country where they have managed to achieve in the 2017-2018 season, 2nd in the country as they got to the National Finals in their Premier League.
Fixtures take place on a Sunday.
Our quarter-final win over Newcatle in 2019/20 saw the first all-female referee crew in BAFA. After the game there was an article posted by the NFL that included a brief overview of this game!

Notable players arent confined to the past, with many current players coming from the esteemed NFL academy, Team GB and Scholars from the United States.
Training Times:
Training sessions take place 2-3 times a week depending on fixtures. All training and home fixtures take place at the Universities main site on Kedleston Road.
