Pole Fitness

Hello! We are the University of Derby Pole Fitness Club, AKA the Treefrogs. We are a diverse group of people all brought together by our love of pole fitness. Pole fitness is a sport everyone can enjoy regardless of age, gender, shape, size, or ability.

Our training sessions are held in Kirtley Hall at Kedleston Road Campus on Tuesdays (Time TBC), this session will be split into a beginners session and then follow intermediate/ advanced session, which is run by our fantastic coach who is level 3 qualified and is very experienced in pole, competitions, and performance.

Another training session is held on Thursdays, 5-7 pm, which is student-led. These sessions are structured to help work on different aspects of pole fitness, such as; stretch and conditioning, floor-work workshops, choreography workshops, and duo training.  This would be the first half of the Thursday session as the second half is an open session for everyone to work on routines for competitions and shows or to work on their own personal goals.

Throughout the year we host a wide variety of events which are fundraisers for our club and also different charities, these events are also for us to show off the talent that our club has to offer.  We put on two shows throughout the year which are our Santa’s pole show and our end-of-year show. Our club is also very proud to host our own inter-university competition, Chrome Royale, to which we invite Universities across the UK to join us for a day of pole fitness performances. The club enters competitions that take place at other universities as well, which we offer any member to put themselves forward if they have an interest in competing.

Our recent wins include: placing third overall in the Midlands Inter-Uni Pole Dancing competition 2017 (1st in the advanced category and 3rd in the beginners category) and placing 2nd in the Advanced category of Nottingham Trent Pole Stars 2018. In 2019 we had 2 of our beginners place 1st and 2nd at Chrome Royale which is a competition we host each year. In 2020 we came second in Beginner and Intermediate at Chrome and first in Intermediate in the video heats at Inter-University Pole Dancing Competition. In 2022 we had one of our intermediates place 1st at Chrome Royale. We currently hold the most improved sports club in 2022/2023 and are a gold-status-approved club.

As a member, you have access to all the sessions that we provide and also a membership starter pack, which includes; a t-shirt, a progress tracker so that you are able to see your improvement throughout the year, a leaflet that contains key dates, and events for the whole year, and a signature frog sticker!

Apart from training, performing, and competing, we also have socials which take place on a Wednesday evening, in which we all get together for a night to get to know each other out of sessions and then we go to Popworld after. Drinking is optional, all that matters is that you enjoy yourself.

As a club, we hope to see you at our give-it-a-go sessions which are free. These sessions are for you to get a feel of what pole fitness is. These will take place on Tuesday 26th September and Thursday 28th September. To keep up to date with all club information follow us on our social media!
