Volleyball

Joining one of UoD's volleyball teams is a great opportunity to be part of a supportive, competitive, motivated, enthusiastic and fun sports club. Our club provides the opportunity for all of our players to compete against the best teams in the country, win the leagues in both Men's and Women's division and be promoted. 

Our club is formed out of four teams: 2 Men's teams and 2 Women's teams. Performance teams (M1 & W1) have access to two 1.5 hour volleyball training sessions and two Strength & Conditioning sessions a week. Additionally, first teams are also offered to play in the English National Volleyball League with the neighbouring team, Derby DARKSTAR. This team is coached by an all-star coaching team of Audrey Cooper (Olympian and Head Coach of the London 2012 Great Britain Volleyball Team) and Maria Bertelli (2012 Olympian and current England Coach). 

After solidifying their position last season, our Women's 1st team continue to compete in the Premier Division in BUCS, the highest level available in the UK for a university team! Our Men's 1st team will again compete in division Midlands 2A hoping for promotion this year, along with both our Men's and Women's second teams competing in Midlands division 3.

In addition to this, our club members are offered a chance to compete in a beach volleyball competition in Bournemouth every year which is an absolute blast to be a part of.

Apart from the competitive side, our volleyball club has much more to offer: as it is an international sport, we are very multicultural and inclusive. Moreover, we host countless different themed social nights almost weekly after game days where everyone can get to know each other and members of any other clubs we host joint socials with and have some nights to remember!
