Every year there are more and more students but not more seating. Lunchtime in the atrium is too busy and there aren't enough seats to eat lunch! People were sitting on the floor!

3:51pm on 12 Sep 18 I think this ia a great idea as uni are moving courses from britania mill to ked rd and if people are already struggling and thats before we move next week. Its added stress people do not need.

11:22pm on 12 Sep 18 I totally agree my only other suggestion would be to stagger lunch times better so that not everyone finishes at 12 instead mix it over 2-3 hours to give everyone a fair chance to sit and eat in peace to unwind from 3 or 4 hours of lectures

8:04pm on 28 Feb 19 The provision of adequate facilities for use during rest periods is seriously lacking. It's in part about provision of a sufficient amount of facilities, such as the seating but whatever is provided must also be appropriate and deliver what students deserve to have, of the highest standards. In other sections people have requested appropriate rest and nap areas as well as conducive library environments and the total lack of any outdoors rest area that is protected from bad weather (which is likely as most students study from autumn, through winter into spring). Overall this just seems to reflect that the university provides what it perceives is right and often at the absolute bare minimum levels that it can get away with - irrespective of what is seemingly obvious and reasonably needed. There must be a requirement for an across the board review of what students need and should have made available to them, rather than just a piecemeal highlighting of this, that and the other odd bits that don't in any way satisfy what students needs are.

4:07pm on 7 Feb 20 FOLLOWING THIS IDEA BEING PASSED - the Union and the University have been working hard to identify and create new social learning, study and seating spaces for students across all campuses. Blends has been extended across the balcony in the Academy with more seating than ever, additional tables are now provided in the main atrium space during peak hours and the library have added more study areas and ad hoc seating. [This idea will now be archived as passed]
