    Buxton to Derby minibus

    Expired
There is no way to attend Derby sport trainings and socials as the TP bus no longer runs after 6pm on a weekday. This has completely stumped many peoples access to the Derby Kedleston campus and what they offer regarding sport and extra curricular events. This of course also goes both ways for Derby students that wish to attend Buxton campus events in the Dome. Derby has a focus on sport with fantastic facilities, and everyone should have access to it.

4:28pm on 22 Oct 18 I agree with this as I wanted to play tennis at Derby and have the same issue with the transpeak bus as I don’t have my car up here. Would a minibus be feasible?

12:23am on 23 Oct 18 I’m Societies Councillor and due to there not being buses on late I can’t physically attend the council meetings which is a massive inconvenience. Regular mini buses would be brilliant to encourage students to go between campuses for sports, societies and events.

2:51pm on 29 Oct 18 I have paid for a la crosse membership, but due to the appalling bus service I can't attend the teams socials, training or matches. This service would finally make Buxton and Derby more integrated as a university rather than just separate campuses.

7:54pm on 28 Nov 18 I am a student at Derby Ked Rd but i live in Buxton. I have no choice but to drive in as there is no bus that will get me in for 9am. I spend about £60 a week on travel and would definitely use a bus if one was available. Plus it's a more environmentally friendly option to use a bus.

8:51pm on 6 Dec 18 The reponsonce to this is not gopd ay all it still doesnt solve the problem as there is no transport for student between campus in the everning when training is finish. Even if the union refunds people the point is people cant get to the campus anyway. Not the cost. Pool car train students that would solve the problem.

9:57am on 12 Feb 20 PASSED - following this idea passing, Buxton students were asked what time and when they would like a bus to operate, but there was not enough demand to run a continual service. However, with the changes to teaching at Buxton, a new student and staff transport plan is being looked at by the University and your Union President, Dani Quill. The priority will be on connectivity both physically and digitally with the Derby sites from September 2020 onwards. In the meantime, your Union Activities Team and Union Coordinator in Buxton, Lizzie Hill have been working local sport clubs to provide a locally-based sporting offer as an alternative to joining Derby-based clubs.
