    Ked road shop prices

    The prices in the shop at ked road shop are getting really high and not affordable for students. I just went in to buy 2 products which came to £4.50, which in a regular supermarket I believe would cost on average £2.50/£3.00. I'm not sure if anyone else sees this as an issue but I know some people that do. I'm not sure if its the same as other campuses but would like to see something be done about this as it really is not affordable for students.

3:12pm on 3 Dec 18 While I'm happy for profits to go to the union but maybe the profit for each product is too high especially for products that should be bought in bulk!

11:11am on 15 Apr 19 Although we work hard to keep the prices down within all of our shops the growing cost of buying in stock makes this very difficult. Unlike bigger supermarkets we do not have the capability to buy in thousands of boxes of one product and distribute these accordingly, we have to buy them individually which does make them more expensive. This has also been made harder by the sugar tax coming into play which has driven up the cost of multiple products. Despite this we still explore cheaper options on a weekly basis and we manage to deliver the better value through deals such as our meal deal and value ranges that you can find in all shops. In comparison to other providers on campus we still remain cheaper in almost all areas, including having the cheapest meal deal options at all sites. Any income we do generate within the shop goes directly back into the student body in multiple ways. It allows us to deliver the great work we do on a daily basis, recruit additional student staff members and ensure our levels of pay are above the national average. If there are any specific products you'd like to talk about in more detail then myself or the retail manager would be more than happy to help at the time.
