    Kedleston Road Traffic Calming

    Expired
    • Travel and Parking
On Tuesday, I was crossing Kedleston Road at the traffic lights when are car ran the red light, it could have hit me. This happens to me and other's most weeks. On Friday, a student was killed by a speeding vehicle. We need to stop this from happening near our university so my idea is to get better speed enforcement methods along Kedleston Road to prevent more students from being injured or killed. The traffic lights clearly aren't enough.

10:42am on 5 Dec 18 I think there needs to be a speed camera on there aswell as cars speed up ready for merging onto the dual carriage way even though where the traffic lights are is a 30 mph I believe

11:25am on 5 Dec 18 I think there might already be some sort of camera halfway between the Uni entrance and the lights, but whether or not it is a speed camera and actually prosecutes people for speeding I don’t know. Perhaps need cameras directly by the lights? Aggressive speed bumps are probably the best and only option to prevent stupid drivers that I can think, but it’s where to put them along the road.

12:10pm on 5 Dec 18 The area is a police speed check area, hence the signs to warn of speed cameras. There aren't permanent cameras, just the potential for police to check it sometimes. There needs to be something to address the dangerous drivers. Schools are address, most colleges are too with warnings of students crossing and reduced speed limits. It's all well and good with the area being a 30 limit, but no one sticks to it.

3:23pm on 5 Dec 18 Couldn't agree more but something needs doing on the junction on the other side of the road that's signposted Matlock and Belper. Cars speed round it in both directions and multiple times I've crossed and it been clear but by the time you get to the middle it's not! It need like a crossing island
