    Card payment for car parks

Kedleston Road and even the street parking outaide of britannia only has coin payments. Most car parks have a way to pay with card, why can't we? Maybe we could load up our student card and scan it in and on the way out the money is deducted. Or maybe we could buy a pass we can scratch off and use when we come in. It's hard enough to get parking and also even the correct change. Also certain people should be able to get free parking

7:26pm on 5 Feb 19 In an age when fewer and fewer of us carry actual cash around, it is frustrating to be scratting around for the correct change every time we visit uni.

11:23am on 26 Feb 19 Complete Contradiction in Process I am a part-time student, on 5/2/19 I arrived to university straight from my full-time job and did not have any coins, I went to class as I didn't want to be late. Upon returning to my car around an hour later during the class break with coins to pay the car parking fee (after using the ATM to get £10 and spending an amount to acquire coins...) I had been given an £80 fine, which was £40 if paid within 14 days. The irony of it is this - CPPlus offers a 'pay by card' service, so I ordered a coffee and paid a £40 fine using my debit card. I think it's a complete contradiction in process that students/visitors cannot pay using debit/credit card for using the car park but you can pay the parking fines using debit/credit card. If I could have paid by card upon arrival, this situation would not have taken place. In a digital world, paying by debit/credit card, contactless, digital payments such as apple pay/android pay, I cannot understand why it's still not possible at University of Derby in 2019. I am forced to believe negatively that the reason coins are the only way to pay for parking are to ensure that parking fines remain one of the University's top income streams. The process needs changing ASAP. Regards Steffen

1:23pm on 23 May 19 I also feel that there are times, like actually not having the correct change, needing to go into uni quickly or running late that these times, you should be given grace, a warning for not having the correct parking ticket on your car. 40.00 pounds is ridiculously over priced, we are all students and struggling with our finances. I find it hard to believe that people only by mistake or with genuine reason do not get a ticket. There should be a warning system, two warnings and 3 time is a fine but not stupidly excessive, possibly £20 ? It would reduce the worry of fines if we could pay by card machine too.
