Those who have purchased the pass to park at Markeaton Park and for those who walk through the park anyway, have found that the footpath is absolutely awful. Once it has rained the path is unacceptable and unsafe to walk along throughout the majority of the academic year. The grass surrounding the path is now in a bad state too and gets very slippy. My shoes are constantly filthy. Let’s please improve accessibility and safety by covering the remainder of the path with tarmac?

4:45pm on 7 Oct 19 I don't think the answer is to tarmac the path as there will still be nowhere for the water to go. Planting more trees all the way along the boarder of the pathways would however help to drink up all that excess water when it rains. The problem is with drainage.

10:32pm on 10 Oct 19 Markeaton Park is not owned by the University or the Union, and therefore, the Union is unlikely to have much influence on this issue at all. Presumably, the issue is with the aggregate chip section between the brook and Kedleston Road as the rest of the main paths between the car park/MS are already tarmaced?
