One of my manifesto aims is to get more humanities and journalism books into the library. I'd like to hear feedback on if this is wanted/needed and, if so, to know if anyone has any specific books in mind. I understand that over the summer the library team removed quite a few books. I know that a lot were humanities-related, but has this affected anyone from non-humanities courses? Are there any missing books that people would like to be brought back? Thank you! Let me know your thoughts.

7:04pm on 14 Oct 19 Ah, thank you for letting me know. I'm looking to email some humanities lecturers to get their input as well. I'd like to know if this has impacted their teaching at all in addition to anyone's studies.

10:05pm on 14 Oct 19 Not necessarily the books, but I'd like the library shelves labelled better. On the ends id love it if it has subject of books and also which numbers are on which floors rather than guessing. The other handy thing would be if when looking on the ends of book shelves where it says numbers which side is which number if that makes sense.

2:24pm on 15 Oct 19 Thank you for commenting! I think I get you. I believe there is an idea up on here regarding that sort of thing. Is this what you meant? https://www.derbyunion.co.uk/change/ideas/?idea=374#idea374 Also, I had a meeting with Alistair Hodge today, who has informed me that the reason the library books were removed is because they were no longer on reading lists (at least for humanities and journalism) and had not been taken out in five years' time. Books that H&J lecturers believed would still be relevant to current study were, as it were, 'rescued' and will soon be moved to the new teaching rooms E111 and E113. They will be able to be taken out on a trust basis. If anyone has any thoughts/feedback on this change, please let me know! At the moment, the H&J budget may not be able to accommodate for new library books, as newer, more relevant books have been brought in to replace the old, unless this is really pushed for by students. The School might be interested in using their funding to bring more relevant talks/events to the University. What are your thoughts on this? Is there anyone in particular people would like to hear from?
