The University provides a lot of goodies, especially during Freshers Fortnight. These freebies are appealing to some, but off putting to others. They scream cheap advertising to me, and although I still chose to study at Derby the reason was far from a poorly made plastic water bottle that I had to insistently refuse multiple times. Mindless consumption of these products is a huge problem. They end up in landfill, resources wasted that could be used much more wisely. Let's find a better way.

8:15am on 29 Oct 19 This is a really good point actually. I have so many water-bottles from uni that I don't know what to do with. I think also the companies during such events may also need to follow suit with this.

5:44pm on 6 Nov 19 I agree. Not just the university but a lot of the stalls at freshers gave pointless plastic freebies which just went in the bin when I got home! Was such a waste and now it's going to be sat in landfill...

4:35pm on 12 Nov 19 This is a good idea. Some stalls were giving away goody bags that were made out of plastic.

10:16am on 14 Nov 19 The waste from Freshers is so big. Would be better to have less but more ethically produced quality things on offer. Great idea.
