7:09pm on 25 Oct 19 I totally agree with this. Students with support plans in place should not have to keep asking for this to happen, marking them as different.

1:58pm on 19 Nov 19 The university does have a policy on this which makes it compulsory in most cases. "1. To ensure a high quality student experience, digital recording technology is to be used to record all appropriate teaching sessions, making sessions more accessible for all students. Where sessions are not suitable for lecture recording, there is an expectation that alternative digital recordings will be provided to students as pre/post-sessional resources. This could be a 2-5 minute introduction to the concepts covered or a summary of key points." This acknowledges that some sessions may be collaborative, e.g. group work, that are not suitable for recording and that is where the policy expresses that there is a need for the recording of the key themes (e.g. recordings of session introduction/summary or pre/post sessional recordings). The policy will help students on occasions of absence, but there are expectations on the importance of attendance (with specific requirements for some programmes). I would recommend (if this is not the case locally) that there is a conversation with the Programme team (via programme reps) to flag any practice in breach of the policy.
