Part Time Officer (Education) Manifesto

Hey! I’m Nicole!

Do you study on an education-based course? Do you think things are working really well? Or are there things that you think need changing? If so, what? I want to know and will be here to listen to EVERYTHING!

I’m a second year, yet mature student on the Primary Education course and I’m absolutely loving it!
I am also a Programme Rep for the second year running and am the elected PTO for Education and Childhood for 2019/20. I’ve loved doing this role so much that I want to do it all over again!

I’ve worked within education for over 5 years and worked within a multinational company for 2 years, so I have a professional head and know what needs to be done to get the things we need!

Last year as your PTO I ensured that your voice was heard through the Institute of Education. On top of this, I petitioned for a childcare creche and through all the hard work and perseverance, the idea passed at Summit!

What I will do as your PTO:

  • Childcare Creche - I will continue to work with the union and university to get this implemented as soon as possible, planning the where, the how, the when and the who!
  • More School Practice Resources - did you know we had children books in the library? Or Story Sacks? It needs to be more publicised, otherwise we LOSE it! There are some fantastic resources, and I will try to get us more as there are new children’s resources EVERY DAY!
  • Education Society – After gathering research last year, I discovered that all the relevant education courses liked the idea of a combined society to network more effectively, socialise and gather ideas from one another. So this year, I am going to focus on creating an Education Society! Prepare for inspirational speakers, TED talks, guest lectures, educational visits, fun events, coffee mornings and of course I want it all child-friendly!

If you agree with some of these changes that are needed then vote for me for your Part-Time Officer!
