Samantha Short
President
Profile
My name is Samantha Short, I am currently a third year student on the Enterprise degree based in Business Management.
I am an outgoing person with a keen interest in making a difference in any way that I can. I have a kind and caring nature and passionately dedicate myself when given the opportunity to do so. As a mother, a student, a colleague and an employee, my wide variation of experiences have helped shape the person I have become today. My aim is to inspire and encourage others to achieve becoming the best version of themselves.
I want to run for President so that I am able to actively work towards encouraging students to have their voices heard and to implement effective and visible change for students to benefit
key aims
- Embed CMI for business students into the library system and into content within modules
- To improve the knowledge that students have in regard to opportunities that enhance their employability and mindset; International Travel Awards, DRIVEN, OCIS, Be the Boss programme, etc.
- To inspire the students of Derby to participate in all that the union of Students has to offer, to have a say, be heard and make real change for real students
what I have done as a student/Programme rep/sports committee member etc.
During my time as a programme rep I have collated feedback and encouraged students to use their voice and be heard. I have worked on issues regarding examinations, anonymous marking and lecturer/content concerns.
During my time as a student at the University of Derby I have actively engaged with my cohort to enhance the level of feedback I receive, to advise and offer help and to create a trusting repour between myself and the students I represent. For my efforts here I was awarded a cohort nominated award for being ‘the student who does the most to help others’.
