My name is Ellie and I am a third year BA(hons) Health and Social Care Student. I have been on the Imagineers Committee and have been a Student Rep for the past two years. I am running for the role of VP Education.
My Manifesto:
Create a more inclusive learning environment
Creating a more inclusive learning environment by campaigning for a student led learning environment where lecturers work in close partnership with students to get the most out of their course. This would include lobbying to the university for further support for those with learning disabilities and mental ill health by actions such as campaigning to the University to introduce a Dyslexia friendly font and for courses to offer multiple assessment options for assignments.
Improve access to the library
Improve access to the library by campaigning for longer library opening times on weekends as well as more consistent and flexible library opening times for all campuses.
Improve training for Part Time Officers and Student Reps
Improve the training offered to PTOs and Student Reps by creating an intensive online training course for PTOs and Student Reps and holding regular training sessions throughout the year to ensure training is kept up to date.
Introduce an award that recognises improvement instead of academic achievement
Promote recognition for students who have demonstrated resilience and continued to improve throughout their time at university
As I have been a student rep for two years, I understand the importance of the student voice and ensuring that it is heard because it is important that students get value for money for their education. I am passionate about supporting students and creating an inclusive learning environment.
I am running in an electoral slate with:
Alex Barker-Moore for Union President
Joshua Williams for VP Activities
Emily Lane for VP Welfare
We believe that through collaboration, we can have a greater impact within the union and can enact changes more effectively.
