Hi! My names Becca and I am a first year Fine Art student. I will be applying for the Part time officer for the Arts. I have had the pleasure of being my programme’s representative and would love the opportunity to offer my support to the Arts as a whole.
In my time as a course representative, I have worked with students and lectures to set up fun and exciting workshops during online learning to help students feel more engaged with the course, trying to bring back the excitement in creating. I am extremely passionate with a desire to see the Arts represented more widely.
My number one aim, if elected as the PTO for Arts, would be to help elevate the online learning currently provided by the university. Creatives are struggling to stay creative during lockdown and I want to help create an environment online where the courses get their needs met by talking to students and lecturers to ensure the online learning experience is continuously improving.
I would also like to work with the University to expand the reputation of the Arts. A considerable proportion of people do not realise the value in art, and I would like to work with you and the university to make this more commonplace knowledge. I would like to build contacts outside of the university to help build our reputation by holding more art related events with help from you.
Another goal if elected would be to encourage courses and year groups to interact more through hosting virtual meet ups (hopefully moving to in person ones once restrictions are lifted). It is important for creative people to work together and create strong bonds that will hopefully move to the professional world. This could also lead to exciting collaboration projects between the courses.
My last goal and the most important is to elevate the student voice, listen to your needs and ensure you are heard. The student voice is one of the largest and is extremely important to make sure your courses are up to standard and you are enjoying it.
I hope to achieve all of this and so much more but I need your vote to do so! Lets work together to make our university experience even better.
