My name is Amy Carey, I will be starting my second year in March 2021 on my Adult Nursing Degree at UOD Kedleston road. I was nominated to be the student representative in March 2020 during our only week at university before lockdown. It was only recent when we were reminded of being representatives for the cohort which has led to me putting myself forward for this part time officer role. I want nursing students to be heard and be giving the chance to have their say.
If I am nominated to take on this role, I hope I am a person you can contact if there is something you as a student would like to put across to me to take further to help improve learning and studying especially as most of it is remote learning.
I would like to get student nurses the recognition they deserve during these rough/tough times. As a student nurse it has been hard going forward as we cannot approach a lecturer face to face for advice, we are having to wait one to three days for a reply when some questions can be urgent.
I would like to come up with an idea where representatives are known easier and students understand what reps are for and when to approach one.
