Manifesto

About me

My Name is Callum Fox-Lang, a first year studying Sports Management at the university of Derby. My whole life has resolved around sport from playing football in the local field at age 5 to now studying a sports related subject, I would love to be the next Union Sports Chair as I am passionate about the field and want to increase student’s participation within sport.

I have had relevant sporting experience from being a part-time sports assistant at a public school with children from 3-18 years old, to working with Saints South West who travel around schools setting up small events for individuals to partake in.

Aims
If elected my main aims are to:

  • Create and manage more weekly sporting opportunities and events from a variety of sports from competitive to social events. Particularly aiming to specifically increase participation within socio-economic groups such as women, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities, international students and people from LGBT communities as many social barriers are preventing their engagement within sport. Ultimately increasing participation and allowing individuals from different backgrounds to socialise through the common liking of sport.
  • Enhance the social media platforms for all registered sports at Derby university to attract awareness and allow easier accessibility to find and contact the sports
  • Set up an effective volunteer group/programme. These aims would not be able to be achievable without a passionate team of like-minded individuals. These volunteers are vital into the success of the aims, in which they can record as experience to bolster their CV for future employment within the field.
