Hello, I'm Katie. A current Student and Leek Part Time officer.

I have been a student at BLC for nearly 3 years as a mature learner and working around bringing up my son too. If I was to go back 5-10 years I never thought I'd have the confidence to go back to college, yet being part of the college, on a course & being a course rep and now part time office & helping out and arranging charity events. My confidence and self esteem have grown so much and my mind set is a postive.

I have already seen the college already evolve over the 3 years of me being here.

The aim is students come first. Students needs are always taken seriously and dealt with in many ways for example going to your tutor, course rep, the wellbeing service, the financial department and being heard and understood. Also the students wants and needs help so much to speak up and make the college a place in which we are always evolving, keeping up with the times e.g. the digital world.

Student ideas are very valued and the college will always look into students wishes and provide the best feedback.

The wants, wishes, needs and ideas help the college work for the best possible outcomes for you.

The college respects students and wants to see students successed in what they do. There is so much to offer, other than your course, there are events to get involved in, charities, open days, volunteering, and job opportunities within the college.

The college wants to be the best version it can be.

From my personal experience being part of blc it is transparent that students voices matter and I love being part of this. Current students and for future students there is always a place to be the best version of yourself too.

I am passionate about working as part of this and making the now and future a truly postive experice. Working together we can always improve, and love listening to you!

Thankyou so for being part of this.
