Danni Franklin – President 21/22
Hi, my name is Danni, I’m currently in my third year studying Fashion and president of Derby Ravens Cheerleading. Having spent the last 3 years studying, training, and making Derby my home, I am ready to take on the challenge of making our Student Union the strongest it’s ever been. 2020 was the year that taught us all how to reflect a little bit more and looking forward; here’s what I aspire to achieve:
- Increase access to support for all students: Covering as many needs as possible. I feel there needs to be easier, faster access to helplines, with a key focus on reducing wait times for student wellbeing concerns.
- Provide more networking opportunities: Improving opportunities for networking and social events will allow us to have a better understanding of the industries we want to progress into and provide opportunities to make professional connections.
- Improve quality of assessment feedback: Support open dialogue between course representatives and academic staff to improve the quality of feedback and student satisfaction levels with assessments.
- Up to date social media outreach: I feel it’s important we have regular, engaging content led by students across our social media platforms. This will provide opportunities for collaboration between the university, local businesses, and students as well as boosting creativity whilst keeping students up to date.
Why me?
Being a creative student alongside heavy involvement in sport across my three years of university has provided me with vital skills that I am confident I can bring to the role.
I’ve seen firsthand the difficult year we have all had in regards to study and sports, however 2020 provided me the opportunity to create strong, inspiring bonds across the sports teams and societies, which I intend to support fully through the 2021/22 academic year.
