I'm Claire, I'm studing Integrated Health and Social Care (top up) part time via UDOL. It's twenty years since I last studied at University and things have changed so much in that time.
I'm a qualified mental health nurse currently working in education supporting staff and students with their health and wellbeing. I'm a staff governor and a keen advocate for the views of often overlooked support staff while in governing body meetings.
I'm a parent, currently juggling a teenager and a tween, supporting their home learning, my own work as well as my online studies during a pandemic. I certainly like a challenge!
This however is not about me, this is about voting for someone willing to listen to your views and represent you as mature students in the best way possible. You need someone who is willing to challenge where necessary to achieve the outcomes you want.
I would aim to:
- Give us a voice within the Union, so that we feel included and able to make the most of our precious time at Derby
- Support you with and make improvements to the overall learning experience as it can sometimes be overwhelming and difficult to navigate.
- Be driven by your feedback and suggestions, responsive to your requests and represent your voice in the best way possible.
